In an earlier post "The End of Cheap Oil?" I blogged about growing concerns over future oil supplies. It's a pressing issue that will grow ever more pressing.
Peter Maass has just published a long article in the Sunday magazine of The New York Times that addresses various aspects of this issue. For example, the extent of Saudi Arabia's oil reserves, which are the biggest in the world, is an open question. We don't really know how much oil the Saudis have, Maass says.
But that's not really the most important aspect of Maass's article. Some experts, he reports, believe that we'll soon reach a point at which it will not possible to extract enough oil to meet the world's daily demand.
