Philip Longman is the author of The Empty Cradle: How Falling Birthrates Threaten World Prosperity And What To Do About It. As the title of his book indicates, Mr. Longman is concerned about the economic consequences of declining birthrates around the world.
Like you, I can't read every interesting book that crosses my path, but I have read a few of Mr. Longman's articles. One in particular that he wrote for Foreign Affairs — "The Global Baby Bust" — I found very helpful. It seems to be a good summary of the ideas in his book.
I mention Mr. Longman's work because I see that he has published another interesting article, this time in Foreign Policy. One consequence of current demographic trends, he argues in his new essay, is that conservatives will inherit the earth.
