Shortly before the election Thomas Schaller published a prescient article that explained where the Democrats were likely to pick up seats in the House and the Senate. Schaller's basic claim is that the Northeast and the Midwest are aligning themselves with the Democrats in a way similar to how the South has moved towards the Republicans over the years.
Unfortunately, I doubt that I'll be able to read Schaller's new book Whistling Past Dixie: How Democrats Can Win Without the South. Who has time for all of the interesting books on politics? Maybe you do, but I don't. Therefore, I recommend printing and saving the article for future reference.
