So he typed up and sent off the opening chapters of three novels by Jane Austen. Apparently, only one of the eighteen recipients recognized the submissions for what they were.

For the full statement of their views, you'll have to look at their book The Emerging Democratic Majority. The book is several years old, but it contains a lot of interesting political history that isn't to be found in the updates that Judis and Teixeira periodically publish.
